DEB CLARKE

Curriculum Vitae

Deborah Clarke lives in Alice Springs with her partner, biologist Dr. Charlie Carter. Together they run supported camps for artists, writers and photographers in the Macdonnell Ranges and beyond. As an artist and writer her work is informed by this intimate experience of the bush and the broader context of Australia’s arid and remote regions. During the last five years she has had three solo exhibitions and many representations in group exhibitions. Her poetry and short stories have been included in published anthologies. She also teaches Digital Imaging part-time at Charles Darwin University in Alice Springs. In her own work she takes an investigative approach to media, using digital photomedia and the more traditional practices of drawing and painting. She is passionate plein air practitioner, and no matter what media she is using she is more often than not doing it ‘out bush’ in the environment she loves.
